Job Description
Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, seeks a Principal Research Engineer to accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies.
As a key member of the Autonomous Systems team, you will increase the level of automation in aerospace and defense systems, and redefine autonomous systems technologies to augment human abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading technical tasks/projects in collaborative autonomy and robotic multi-agent systems
- Deriving requirements and defining conceptual architectures for collaborative autonomy applications
- Designing and developing research prototypes to demonstrate technology concepts for collaborative autonomy
- Working closely with technology leads to identify emerging trends and technology needs
- Contributing to research proposals for internal and external projects
- Advocating for diversity and inclusion in the aerospace and defense industry
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics Engineering with 3+ years of industrial experience
- Master's degree in these areas with 7+ years of industrial or academic experience
- Proven research track record in automated reasoning and related topics
- Ability to model multi-agent systems and implement algorithms for collaborative agents
- Knowledge of GNC or ATM/UTM is preferred
- Passion for building prototypes and learning new technologies
