Job Description

Seeking a Principal Engineer in EM and Module Design for a Diversified Analog Solutions business unit in Cork, Ireland.

Skyworks Solutions is a world-class, vertically integrated company with manufacturing capabilities in RF semiconductors, acoustic filters, packaging, and test.

The ideal candidate will join a diverse team of RFIC, Analog IC, and Module engineers to assist in the concept, design, integration, and delivery of complex multichip, multi-technology RFIC-based wireless module solutions for 5G, IoT, and Wi-Fi applications.

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for managing and improving the performance of an RF front-end module, translating customer design specifications into subsystem design targets, and applying microwave engineering and RFIC design fundamentals to steer PA, LNA, filter, and laminate design tapeouts.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of customer design specifications, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently identify solutions to technical challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and improving the performance of an RF front-end module
  • Translating customer design specifications into subsystem design targets
  • Applying microwave engineering and RFIC design fundamentals to steer PA, LNA, filter, and laminate design tapeouts
  • Developing high-accuracy simulation benches using ADS, HFSS, or Cadence programs
  • Designing integrated passive devices and RF filters
  • Lab tuning, data review, and analysis
  • Providing detailed technical reports
  • Designing high-isolation laminate layouts to meet high-density component module requirements

Required skills and experience include:

  • BS degree with 12 years of experience in Microwave Engineering, RFIC Design, Electromagnetics, or related Electrical Engineering fields
  • Practical experience with lab measurements and characterization equipment
  • Experience with EM tools such as HFSS or Momentum
  • Lab experience with network analyzer, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and probe station
  • Knowledge of HBT, FET, CMOS devices
  • Knowledge of RF switch design, power amplifier design, PA classes, PAE, PA performance
  • Knowledge of communication standards, such as LTE-A, Wi-Fi, and associated standards
