Principal Software Engineer - Security Engineering

Lead a team focused on security-related engineering work, researching and productizing new security technologies for Red Hat's solution portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document Red Hat's long-term security technology strategy, informed by customers and partners.
  • Promote alignment on the security technology strategy through working with product management and product engineering.
  • Advance, refine, and inform the security technology strategy by incubating engineering projects within your own team.
  • Work to increase external visibility of the portfolio view for Red Hat Security by meeting with customers, partners, and press.
  • Identify upstream communities germane to the success of the Red Hat Security strategy to ensure they have appropriate vitality and level of participation.
  • Work with engineering, legal, security, communications, product, and recruiting teams to turn security-related contributions into powerful stories.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in enterprise software development with complex system requirements.
  • Leadership experience with globally distributed engineering teams and projects.
  • Experience with security-related engineering and design.
  • Familiarity with tools like OPA Integration with Tekton, Kafka, Argo CD, and Multi-Cluster, Trusted Execution Environments (Enarx), Dev Sec Ops, and open source secure supply chain.
  • Experience with containers, distributed systems, and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with open source communities and open source development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with customers and community members.
