Our client, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Process Automation Engineer to support the integration of cutting-edge automated equipment within their advanced manufacturing processes.
This role focuses on delivering state-of-the-art solutions, enhancing medical device production, and working with top-tier automation technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with machine builders to aid in the design, development, and delivery of complex automation equipment for medical device manufacturing.
- Translate technical and process needs into detailed equipment requirements to ensure the automation system meets manufacturing goals.
- Oversee the build and delivery phase, ensuring the equipment's processing capabilities are fully developed and optimised.
Control System Design
- Lead the design of industrial control systems from the concept stage, ensuring seamless integration with the manufacturing environment.
- Liaise with clients and internal teams to develop detailed control system design specifications.
- Participate in control system hardware and software Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Select and manage automation contractors throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Review and provide feedback on system integrator and vendor design documentation.
- Stay informed of the latest automation technology trends by liaising with automation vendors.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Degree (Level 8) in Electronics Systems, Mechatronics, Automation / Controls Technology or related field.
- 5+ years' experience in automation, with a focus on medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
- Proven expertise in software development, particularly in designing PLC / DCS-based control systems.
- Strong understanding of software architectures and regulatory standards, such as S88, GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11.
- Knowledge of industrial networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Control Net.
- Experience with inspection systems for complex geometries.
- Proficiency in interpreting P&ID diagrams and panel drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary, international environment.
- Organised, proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to vendor locations as needed.
