Job Description

Position: Senior Project Design Engineer Location: Shannon, Clare Permanent The Role: Our client is a pioneering company dedicated to advancing healthcare technology through innovative solutions. Specializing in the development of cutting-edge medical devices, they are at the forefront of enhancing diagnostics and patient care globally. The position entails overseeing the product design aspects of customer-facing projects while providing mentorship and guidance to the existing product design team. It is an integral role within the company's cross-functional team, collaborating closely with Biomedical, Electronics, Regulatory, and Manufacturing Engineering disciplines to bring products from concept to manufacturing launch. Responsibilities: * Lead design feasibility, requirement capture, architecture, implementation, integration, and verification phases. * Incorporate human factors, user-centred design, ideation, concept development, rendering, prototyping, CAD, material selection, and documentation. * Design housings and enclosures for electronic-based medical devices. * Develop fabric and adhesive patch-based wearable medical devices. * Conduct proof of concept design and prototype development and testing. * Design plastics for injection molding processes. * Drive design finalization through to manufacturing launch. * Collaborate in the development of sensor-based wearable devices for the healthcare sector. * Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Electronic Engineering, and Quality Engineering. * Evaluate and ensure compliance with agency requirements such as UL, FDA, and CE throughout the design process. * Develop 2D and 3D CAD drawing sets. * Project manage specific sections of customer-facing projects. * Present ideas and concepts to internal teams and external customers. * Engage directly in customer-facing projects. * Provide mentorship and coaching to the product design team. Qualifications/Requirements: * Minimum Level 8 degree or higher in Product Design or equivalent engineering discipline. * 4+ years of experience in Product Design Engineering. * Background in life sciences or medical devices preferred. * Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Solidworks or Inventor. * Interest in designing Bio-sensing wearables. * Experience with medical devices incorporating electronic elements. * Project management skills are advantageous. * Interest in and experience with 3D printing technology. * Strong communication skills, essential for interacting with customers and partners. * Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply creative thinking to design solutions. * Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. * Customer-facing experience is essential. * Familiarity with international standards and regulations is desired. * Ability to provide cross-departmental support as needed, demonstrating versatility in daily activities.
