Product Development Engineer (12-Month Maternity Cover) – Medical Device Industry

We are partnering with a leading company in the medical device industry to find a highly motivated Product Development Engineer for a 12-month temporary role based in Galway, Ireland. **Role Summary**

*Lead product and process development activities from concept to commercialisation, ensuring all project milestones are met.* Develop new product concepts and prototypes, ensuring they meet customer and regulatory requirements.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Lead product and process development activities from concept to commercialisation, ensuring all project milestones are met.
* Develop new product concepts and prototypes, ensuring they meet customer and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with Program Managers to create and execute detailed project plans within budget and schedule constraints.
* Drive innovation in product and process design, participating in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
* Ensure comprehensive documentation throughout all phases of the product development process.
* Engage in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) activities to optimise production efficiency.
* Support design and process verification and validation in collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams.
* Liaise with customers and other company sites to align on design and development objectives.

**Required**

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
* 3-5 years of experience in the medical device industry or a similar sector.
* Proven track record in developing medical devices from concept to commercialisation.
* Experience with balloon catheters, delivery systems, and the Product Development Process (PDP).
* Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, and project management.
