Production Engineers at Meta

Production Engineers at Meta are a hybrid between software and systems engineers, working on significant engineering efforts to keep Facebook running smoothly and scaling efficiently.

They work within product and infrastructure teams to ensure products and services are reliable and scalable, writing code and debugging hard problems in live production that impacts over 2 billion people worldwide.

Our team is comprised of varying levels of experience and backgrounds, with a focus on demonstrated abilities and attitude rather than industry experience.

Partnered alongside the best engineers in the industry, the code and systems you work on will be in production and used by millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Own back-end services like data warehouses, front-end services like Messenger and Newsfeed, infrastructure components like Memcached infrastructure, and everything in between.
  • Write and review code, develop documentation, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the largest and most complex systems in the world.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Experience in a *nix (Linux, BSDs, Solaris, or another UNIX-like OS) or Windows OS.
  • Experience coding in at least one language.
  • 1 or more years with new development languages (Python, Hack/PHP, C++, Java, Rust, and GoLang).
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of internet service architectures (such as load balancing, LAMP, CDN's).
  • Intent to return to full-time degree program after completion of the internship.
