Production Manager Longford / Cavan Our clients, an Irish food manufacturing firm based in the North Midlands, are looking for an Assistant Production Manager who will play a vital role in overseeing daily manufacturing operations in a mid-sized food production facility. The successful candidate will ensure efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, optimizing resource use, and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene regulations. The position requires a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and experience in manufacturing, ideally Food Manufacturing. The Role: Planning, scheduling, and executing production runs to meet demand and supply targets. Ensure efficient allocation of manpower, equipment, and resources to meet production goals. Oversee daily production activities, coordinating with supervisors to resolve any operational issues. Monitor production line efficiency and output, troubleshooting any bottlenecks or technical issues. Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure all products meet food safety and quality standards. Manage, mentor, and develop production supervisors and line operators. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of production staff. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed by production staff, minimizing workplace hazards. Conduct safety drills, provide training, and maintain up-to-date safety records. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and improved productivity. Assist in coordinating with the supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and packaging supplies. Monitor stock levels and ensure timely ordering to avoid production downtime. The Person: Bachelors degree in Food Science, Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered. 3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role. Familiarity with food production processes, quality standards, and industry regulations (HACCP, GMP, FDA, etc.). Experience with production planning, process optimization, and workforce management. Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Proficiency in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
