Key Responsibilities

  • Meet production schedules, manage material requirements, and oversee purchase order management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled within the agreed-upon timeframe and budget.
  • Open, maintain, and release process orders, batch determine process order components, and generate lot assignment sheets.
  • Generate purchase requisitions as necessary and ensure material is released within the agreed-upon timescale.
  • Update existing BOMs to ensure accurate and timely customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions, quantities, and due dates.
  • Prepare documentation for the disposal of obsolete or rejected materials in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and control inventories of bulk suppliers, WIP, and finished products to achieve plant inventory level goals.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, GMP, and safety.
  • Develop contingency plans for technical or supply issues and execute the production schedule by ensuring process orders are available, batch determinations are completed, material availability is ensured, and technical issues are resolved.
  • Generate and maintain MLCs and create and maintain ERP data in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Review material at risk of expiring and support the rest of the team on an ad-hoc basis as directed by the Team Leader/Manager.
  • Order pegging by completing batch determinations from bulk to kitpack and issue production monitoring reports as required.
  • Support financial planning exercises and BEx projects as needed.
  • Complete all activities in a safe manner, addressing any potential safety issues and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure environmental procedures, such as recycling and waste minimization, are adhered to and improvements are made where possible.
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects, process simplification, system enhancements, and automation of activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Appropriate qualification in purchasing/production planning, such as a diploma in purchasing or relevant APICS examinations, or a general degree with relevant manufacturing experience.
  • At least two years of experience in production planning in a manufacturing company, preferably with experience in planning short-shelf-life products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with all levels of management within the plant and with Abbott personnel in other affiliates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to solve scheduling, logistics, expediting, and purchasing problems.
