Job Description

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Shift Supervisor to oversee one shift within their high-volume production area. The successful candidate will ensure that production runs smoothly across multiple shifts, maintaining efficiency and effectiveness at all times. This role requires a strong communicator who can liaise with other departments on Technical, NPD (New Product Development), and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) issues. A key aspect of this position involves managing the production team, ensuring timely communication, providing training, handling absence management, and addressing employee relations in line with best practices and statutory regulations. This is a shift role with days and evenings Key Responsibilities: Ensure the production process complies with all quality, cleaning, and hygiene standards. Participate in site meetings across all key functions, including Hygiene, HACCP, and daily production meetings. Communicate production schedules to area leaders in a timely manner, ensuring smooth product changeovers, start-ups, and shutdowns, with strict adherence to product specifications. Maintain product/process food safety standards and traceability. Monitor the environment and machinery within the area, reporting any faults or maintenance needs to the Maintenance Manager. Oversee raw material handling, ensuring compliance with agreed specifications for Standard Care and High Care Packing products. Monitor area waste, ensuring proper disposal and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Report daily on efficiencies and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions as required. Input run data information into the system at the end of each shift, detailing downtime and any related issues. Ensure effective shift changeovers, clearly communicating any issues to the next shift supervisor. Liaise with HR to ensure all People Management policies and procedures are followed. Monitor and review time and attendance, ensuring clock-ins, absences, and shift patterns are accurately recorded; liaise with Payroll when necessary. Ensure all employees receive on-the-job training and that the correct SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are signed off in a timely manner. Adhere to all HSE procedures, ensuring employees have the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and that any accidents or near misses are reported. Requirements: Skills/Knowledge/Experience: Experience in manufacturing within a high-volume FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment is essential. IT literate. A working knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is preferred. Experience in leading a team is advantageous. Ability to work on own initiative. Confidence to make on-the-spot decisions. Knowledge of the Movex Inventory Management System is advantageous. Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.
