Production Unit Operations Manager role requires leadership and strategic planning to achieve business goals, improve quality, and reduce costs in a critical supply chain node.

Job Description:

As a key member of the production team, you will lead the organization to achieve people, quality, customer service, and cost goals. You will work closely with peers to ensure alignment on the strategic plan and achieve goals that align with site behavioural standards and company values.

The production unit is a critical node in our supply chain, providing key polymer components for internal customers worldwide. Key processes include multilayer micro-extrusion, injection overmoulding, and precision balloon forming to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the production unit, working with the engineering and quality managers to deliver results through a collaborative approach.
  • Leverage lean initiatives to improve safety, quality, and customer indicators, reduce waste, and improve processes and labour efficiencies.
  • Partner with finance, human resources, quality, and production planning to optimize department performance, champion employee engagement, and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Determine staff levels, schedules, and resources, establish cross-functional team relationships, and work cross-functionally to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Establish clear accountabilities for direct reports, motivate and develop staff through understanding, personal development, and lifelong learning.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor department budgets, plan and allocate resources to optimize customer service targets, inventory levels, procurement delivery, and costs.
  • Foster and recognize continuous improvement initiatives within the department, nurture a risk-taking environment, and encourage employees to reach for new milestones.
  • Ensure department adherence to regulatory and GMP requirements, promote quality and customer satisfaction as a way of life in all department activities.
  • Identify technical risks and act proactively to reduce negative impact on product and projects, ensure compliance in all practices and procedures.
  • Use available tools and resources to meet customer production needs based on sales forecast, drive functional excellence initiatives, and deliver high-quality functional deliverables.
  • Possess a broad, in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems, with the ability to specify appropriately.
  • Work with EHS to identify significant environmental impacts of BSIL operations and establish goals and targets around significant environmental impacts.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing or engineering field, master's preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in an operations environment, 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
