Job Description

Power System Studies Engineer required to manage and carry out technical power system studies, assist with training, development, and innovation in a dynamic team.

ESB is committed to a Brighter, zero carbon future and is seeking a Power System Studies Engineer to join its Power System Studies (PSS) teams in the Network System Services (NSS) Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and document technical studies such as power flow, short-circuit, transient stability studies, protection relay settings, and other technical studies.
  • Understand the technical, commercial, and financial nature of power system studies projects and direct and manage coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Meet requirements for project safety, quality, programme, and budget, and monitor projects from initial contact through to final delivery.
  • Travel nationally and internationally as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience.
  • Strong technical capability.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills, with experience of presenting and communicating complex topics to a wide range of audiences.
  • Self-motivated with ability to project manage and prioritise own work.
  • Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
  • Ability to make quality decisions and judgement, with a logical, yet imaginative and innovative approach to problem solving.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proven track record of project management / co-ordination, delivery of projects on time and to the highest technical standards.
  • Proven track record of success contributing to the training and development of technical professionals.
