Professional Support / Knowledge Lawyers (3-4 year +PQE) Non Fee-Earning 11thOctober 2024 (Ref: EO249) Hybrid: Dublin/Cork/Waterford/Limerick/Galway/Belfast/London Relevant to; Associate, Senior Associate, Of Counsel and Salary Partner level Key Practice Areas: Corporate / Dispute Resolution / Regulation / Finance Our clients, leading Irish & International firms are seeking Professional Support / Knowledge Lawyers (3-4 year +PQE). There has been a huge spike in demand for Professional Support Solicitors/Lawyers looking to use their expertise in a non-fee earning yet impactful roles. These opportunities would suit current PSL / Knowledge / Practice Development or Business Development Lawyers or Corporate/Disputes/Transactional lawyers seeking a non-billable role. These opportunities may also be very attractive to lawyers (Solicitors or Barristers) that are seeking more of a work-life balance and yet deploying their PQE in a hugely significant, impactful and satisfying way. Demand is focused on Lawyers from leading firms and PQE in; Corporate, Transactions, Disputes, Financial Services, Regulation. A professional support lawyer (PSL) or knowledge lawyer plays a crucial role in supporting legal teams within a firm. They specialise in providing expertise that help lawyers work more efficiently. In essence, professional support or knowledge lawyers act as in-house experts, ensuring legal teams have the knowledge, tools, and training they need to excel in client service. Heres a summary of what is involved: Knowledge Management: PSLs create, maintain, and update internal databases, precedents, templates, and checklists to ensure that lawyers have access to up-to-date legal information and documents. Training and Development: Design and deliver training sessions for lawyers, covering legal updates, new regulations, and best practices, helping lawyers stay current with legal developments. Also help delivering training programmes for trainees and interns Research and Analysis: PSLs perform detailed legal research, summarise new case law, legislative changes, and legal trends. They often provide insights and opinions on these developments for use in client work. Drafting: May assist in drafting or refining complex legal documents, ensuring they comply with the latest laws and industry standards. Business Development: PSLshelp develop legal know-how, horizon scanning and contribute to client-facing publications, blogs, and newsletters to showcase the firms expertise. Practice Support: Work closely with practice groups to provide specialised support in specific areas of law, (Corporate/Disputes/Regulatory) ensuring the team functions effectively and maintains high-quality output. Solicitors will ideally have experience from leading Ranked firms, Top/Mid or boutique law firms in Ireland, Northern Ireland or the UK.
