Job Description

Project Accountant Unijobs on behalf of our client UCD, are currently recruiting for a Project Accountant. The Project Accountant will provide accounting and administrative support in a number of areas within the Financial Reporting Team, as part of the Finance Office and the University as a whole. The role requires an individual with all round problem solving skills, who is detail-orientated and can work to tight deadlines. The role requires a proven ability to work as part of a team and maintain confidentiality and discretion to a very high level. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Financial Accountant (or nominee) and will liaise closely with other Finance Office staff, with colleagues in the other units within the University and also with external agencies. Salary scale for this position is €55,000 - €65,000. This is a temporary position with a contract duration of 9 - 11 months. The duties will consist of both recurrent and project work. All recurrent and project work will be allocated by the Senior Financial Accountant. The recurrent work consists primarily of the tasks listed below. Annual Assisting in the preparation of the University's annual consolidated financial statements Detailed audit file preparation Liaising with auditors Assisting with filing and documentation to support University's PCI compliance Assisting with filing for the Companies Registration Office. Monthly Ensuring that all balances within the University's balance sheet are reconciled on a regular basis Assisting in the reconciliation of inter-university accounts with subsidiary companies Assisting in day to day accounting for pensions. On-going Project work e.g. automation of management accounts reporting facility Finance Office representative for external Steering Groups Preparation of information requested from external bodies e.g. HEA, IUA, CRO. Any other duties The successful candidate will also be responsible for completion of any other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Financial Accountant Experience and Qualifications Successfully completed final examinations of a recognised accounting body and minimum of three years accounting experience in a computerised office environment. Functional Competencies Business Environment: Experienced in the use of finance systems of a large organisation with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and an excellent understanding of accounting processes and procedures. Financial Reporting: Knowledgeable of the production of consolidated financial statements with good experience in the production of a set of accounts to audit standard. Tax: Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of tax and in particular, VAT and Corporation tax. Core Competencies Organisational Awareness: Demonstrates a good understanding of UCD in its entirety. Planning and Organisation: Demonstrates good experience of organising activities, separating and combining tasks to deliver outputs according to clear timeframe to realise objectives. Setting clear priorities and ensuring deadlines are met. Building Relationships: Strong experience fostering partnerships to achieve results and building effective working relationships within own area and more broadly. Project Management: Strong experience in ensuring project or programme goals, purpose, and criteria for success are clearly defined at the outset and building detailed project plans and carefully monitors progress against it. Managing Change: Strong experience in fostering an environment of innovation and change. Ensuring appropriate stakeholder involvement and engagement in change programmes/projects. Managing People: Some experience in aligning the right work with the right people; delegating tasks according to people's strengths and interests and providing regular and meaningful feedback that supports individuals to be successful. Managing Stakeholders: Strong experience in developing and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, through excellent communication and interpersonal skills and responding to stakeholder needs and managing expectations. Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. Desirable Knowledge of University Procedures and Systems Good knowledge of FRS102 Experienced in preparing financial statements in US GAAP format Experience in the use of Infoview Experience in the use of e-Financials Auditing experience.
