Job Description
A project engineer to coordinate and implement projects supporting manufacturing requirements, with 2-3 years of experience in a medium-sized manufacturing environment. The candidate must have a degree in an engineering discipline and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include defining project scope, coordinating activities, controlling project costs and schedule, and ensuring health and safety regulations are met. The engineer will also be responsible for designing and developing equipment, modifying existing equipment, and providing technical support for projects. Experience with bulk tabletting manufacturing, high-speed tablet packaging, topical cream manufacture, sterile fill finish of liquids, sterilization methods, and design of process equipment is desirable. The engineer will supervise technicians, contractors, and service personnel and ensure the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define project scope through meetings and discussions
- Coordinate all project activities, including design, specification, sourcing, purchasing, installation, commissioning, and validation
- Prepare Memos of Justification for capital expenditure approval
- Maintain and control project costs and schedule
- Liaise with the HSE Department to ensure health and safety regulations are met
- Design and develop equipment to meet production requirements
- Modify equipment for process upgrades
- Arrange the provision of facilities, including equipment and utilities, for new products, processes, or upgrades
- Identify areas where new technologies can be used to improve quality, efficiency, and service
- Develop specifications for equipment or facility design/supply
- Arrange acceptance testing of equipment
- Provide technical support for projects from other departments
- Supervise technicians, contractors, and service personnel during installation and commissioning
Specific Experience Requirements:
- Use of Permit to Work System or other Safe Systems of Work to control engineering activities
- Ownership for preparation of capital expenditure request and cost estimates
- Ownership, management, and reporting of part or complete project budget spend
- Preparation of key project documents: Project Scope, User Requirement Specification, Vendor Audit Reports
- Responsibility for direct supervision of vendor engineers and contractors during engineering works on single or multiple capital projects
Desirable Experience Requirements:
- Bulk tabletting manufacturing, including granulation, mixing, compaction, and coating
- High-speed tablet packaging, including blistering, sachetting, cartoning, labelling, printing, vision systems, and other associated technologies
- Topicals cream manufacture, including compounding, homogenisation, tube filling, and cartoning
- Sterile fill finish of liquids into vials, ampoules, including compounding, sterile filtration, filter integrity testing, and filling
- Sterilisation methods, including porous load autoclave, terminal sterilisation, and dry heat sterilisation
- Design and fabrication of process equipment for use in sterile manufacturing, including vessels, filling parts, etc.
- Small-scale civil and construction/building works, including drains, excavations, site services, landscaping, renovations, alterations, and decoration within a pharmaceutical facility
