Attachedtothe Office ofthe Registrar and Vice PresidentforAcademicAffairs,the focusofAnSEO- The Student Engagement Office is to work with academic faculty, school and department staff and student services to review best practices to date, explore current issues, develop proactive and collaborative strategies appropriate to need and facilitate implementation with a view to significantly improving student engagement, progression and successful graduation. AnSEO wishes to appoint Project Officers to develop, test and pilot a self-assessment toolkit that will support successful transition and integration of our diverse cohorts of new incoming students to MTU. The appointees will work closely with MTU students and staff and will be expected to consult with external partners, including other institutes and professional bodies, as appropriate. The successful candidate will also contribute to the enhancement of the EDGE Graduate Development Programme and Digital Platform by liaising with our technology service provider and other stakeholders, to deliver awards that recognise student engagement in extra- and co-curricular activities and enhance their graduateness. The post holder(s) will work with the Student Engagement Officer Cork, under the direction of Head of Student Engagement, Learning and Teaching Cork. Maindutiesandresponsibilitieswillincludebutnotlimitedto: Meetwithidentified,relevantinternationalpractitionerstodiscussandidentifybestapproaches to personalised student success and the use of diagnostics. Contribute to the design and development of an interactive platform to engage and signpost studentstoappropriatemappedsupports(e.g.LearningSupportCentres)andor developmental opportunities (e.g. EDGE Graduate Development). WorkwiththesuccessfultechnologyserviceproviderandITServicestodesignandrolloutthe self-assessment toolkit. Engage with central services and academic staff to identify various supports available across MTU and map the outcomes of the pilot self-assessment to these supports to signpost students. Testmappingofplatformoutcomesandlaunchroll-outofplatformtolargercohortofstudents. Facilitate early engagement of new incoming students by providing guidance, support, and information to MTU students who are at risk of academic underperformance/failure/leaving their course. Workingwithrelevantacademicdepartmentstodevelopanunderstandingofparticularstudent progression and success challenges and gain an understanding of how we might develop appropriate early alert and intervention strategies. Researching and developing useful and targeted materials and scripts in conjunction with academic departments to use in new student academic induction and later years reorientation. DesigningstudentinformationeventsandJustAskcampaignsasappropriate. Keeping records of all meetings with academic staff and their students as deemed appropriate and in line with MTUs legal responsibilities. Contributingtothedesignanddevelopmentofcontentandcampaignsthatserveourobjectives torelevantinternalandexternalpartnerse.g.,AcademicDepartments,HEA,QQI,andNational Student Engagement Programme. InterfacingwithacademicandadministrativeofficesonbehalfofAnSEO,asneeded. OtherdutiesasmaybeassignedbyHeadof Function. The successful candidate will have minimum academic qualifications and experience as follows: Essential Criteria: HaveobtainedatleastGradeD3infivesubjectsintheLeavingCertificateExamination(higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent OR have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be standard or equivalent or higher OR have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate. Experienceinapostwhichindicatesthepotentialoftheapplicanttoperformthemaindutiesof the post. Relevant administrative experience which demonstrates a competency on the systems and structures which underpin the functioning of the University. Abilitytorelatewelltodiversecohortsofstudentsandrelevantfacultystaff. Demonstrableexperienceofreportwriting. HighlyskilledinMSOffice,Office365,TEAMSandZoom. Experienceofworkingaspartofateam. Demonstrableabilitytoworkontheirowninitiative. Evidenceofself-development. Desirable Knowledge/ Skills/ Competencies: Arelevantthirdlevelqualification,orhaveappropriaterelevantexperience,whichencompasses equivalent skills and expertise. Experienceandevidenceofworkingcloselywithstudentsinasupporting/advisingcapacityand working constructively as part of a team. Abilitytorelatewelltodiversecohortsofstudentsandrelevantfacultystaff. Skill to analyse and understand student issues to provide appropriate coaching, mentoring and opportunities for student success and retention. Athoroughknowledgeoftheoptionsopentostudentswhoarewaveringandinneedofsupport. Experienceinfacilitatingseminars/workshopswithstudentsand/orstaff. Abilitytoresearchbestpracticeinacademicadvising/earlyalert&interventionstrategies, extract and prepare relevant information for dissemination and develop best practices. Can use ICT effectively in terms of supporting activities, collecting data, record keeping and reporting. Abilitytocollaborateandworkinateam,contributingtotheongoingdevelopmentanddirection of current and evolving AnSEO project.
