Job Description

Project Quantity Surveyor role in Cork, Ireland, involves managing commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring value is maximized and commitments are met.

Our client, a leading construction company, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their high-performing project teams in Cork. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day commercial and contract activities, including contract administration, change management, and negotiation of subcontract orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day commercial and contract activities
  • Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintenance of associated registers
  • Negotiate and obtain best value with placement of subcontract orders
  • Participate in the management of project budgets, cost plans, and feasibility studies
  • Validate and approve sub-contractors' interim applications and final submissions
  • Lead pre-appointment subcontractor meetings to ensure scope is clearly defined
  • Prepare accurate monthly Cost Value Reports for review and presentation
  • Maximise cash flow through prompt submission of Monthly Valuations
  • Negotiate, draft, and submit Final Accounts, including claims for loss and expense, delay, and disruption
  • Maintain a productive relationship with design team professionals and client representatives
  • Ensure full and proper implementation of commercial procedures

Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics or equivalent degree recognised by SCSI and/or RICS
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of various forms of contract used in the construction industry
  • Ability to critically evaluate and identify gaps in documentation and commercial opportunity
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of construction processes, techniques, and systems
  • Demonstrates commercial awareness, market, competition, and value for money
  • Strong numeracy and report writing skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills, with a focus on results
  • Strong attention to detail
