Psychotherapist Job Description


Support the Psychology Service and MDT in addressing mental health and offence specific needs of people referred to the Psychology Service. The assignment will be 6 months with a view to extension.


As a Psychotherapist, you will assist in delivering psychological treatment for people convicted of sexual violence, including short term intervention, motivational work and co-facilitation of the Building Better Lives programme with a psychologist.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage a caseload including co-facilitating an offence related group with a psychologist and individual work.

  • Work with local prison psychology services to deliver high quality intervention and implement services for people in custody who sexually offend.



Essential Qualifications and Competencies:


Candidates must have a recognised Level 7 qualification in a relevant human science discipline or equivalent, hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy recognised by the IACP, IABCP or ICP, and have full accredited membership with one of these bodies. Desirable but not essential requirements include experience in addressing emotional, mental health and/or offence-related difficulties with a forensic or inpatient population, and providing consultation, education, guidance and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
