Job Description

Experienced Purchasing Manager/Buyer sought to drive supply chain effectiveness and develop partnerships with suppliers in the healthcare and pharmacy industry.

The ideal candidate will report to the Head of Finance and develop effective partnerships with suppliers in line with business strategy. As Purchasing Manager/Buyer, you will drive the effectiveness and continuing development of the Supply Chain function, maximising On Time Delivery (OTD) whilst working closely with the Operations and Commercial teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and influencing supplier performance while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Developing Service Level Agreements with new and existing suppliers.
  • Overseeing product stock planning and forecasting to ensure business KPIs are met on time.
  • Coordinating communications with freight forwarders and customs agents to arrange and manage inbound shipments.
  • Negotiating competitive pricing with freight forwarders in the Far East and Europe.
  • Attending international and national trade shows to meet with new and existing suppliers.
  • Liaising directly with suppliers to ensure the manufacturing process and its quality standards meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining necessary product documentation for all products to ensure compliance with CE, ISO, and other relevant authorities.
  • Collaborating with the Finance team on cost reduction to ensure competitiveness.
  • Working with the NPD, Sales, and Marketing departments to determine business needs.
  • Leading, managing, and developing the small Purchasing team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior Purchasing role.
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification.
  • Strong Computer Skills: Microsoft Office and knowledge of SAP (or other ERP systems).
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Sound knowledge of sourcing from China and Europe.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance within the medical devices industry.
  • Proven leadership skills.

This is a permanent role with a salary depending on the candidate's skills and experience, but expected base salary of €60K-€70K per annum, with some scope for higher for an exceptional candidate. Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8am – 5pm and Friday 8am – 4.30pm.
