Our Client A well-established and diversified wholesaler, specializing in a range of products including Hardware, Steel, Wire, Agricultural Plastics, etc are seeking a dynamic Purchasing Manager to join their team in the heart of Cork City.


As the Purchasing Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing all commercial aspects of procurement, driving the portfolio's growth, and ensuring cost-effective, on-time material deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department in developing and executing procurement strategies aligned with the overall category goals.
  • Stay ahead of market dynamics, industry trends, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee and optimize product assortments within your portfolio to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Manage internal procurement processes and supply chain considerations to meet material requirements on time and in full.
  • Balance stock levels to avoid both stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Lead negotiations on terms, pricing, and bids to ensure optimal product costs.
  • Implement pricing strategies based on market insights and competitiveness to maximize profitability and margin optimization.
  • Use datadriven insights to track portfolio performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to drive innovation, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with suppliers to deliver customerfocused initiatives and contribute to profitable growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams to understand procurement requirements and ensure the success of the portfolio.
  • Handle essential procurement tasks including requisitions, stock orders, bid evaluations, and more.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, sales growth, and portfolio management in wholesale or retail industries, preferably in the Irish market.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven experience in cost optimization and successful supplier relationship management.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market trends and complex data to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with purchasing platforms/ERP systems.
  • A strategic thinker with potential for future growth in a dynamic environment.
