Job Description
QA Test Engineer sought for 6 month contract position at a development office in Cork. The ideal candidate has a strong technical testing background and is interested in moving towards a development role or production support. The role involves providing input and leadership to the project team, guiding them on functionality and quality, and reviewing specification documents. The candidate must be competent in test automation and test tracking tools, and have excellent communication and teamwork skills. They must also be able to understand how an application is architected and have a working knowledge of performance/loading testing tools. The successful candidate will work closely with software development teams and management to ensure high quality software and maintain production systems. Key responsibilities include creating test plans and procedures, executing test cases, and managing priorities. The candidate must have 4+ years of system-testing experience, particularly in web-based testing, and be proficient in test automation tools such as Visual Studio Team System (Test Edition), HP Quick Test Professional, or Selenium. They must also be able to use defect tracking tools, have excellent communication skills, and be a self-starter with analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate is proactive, able to take ownership of problems and drive them to resolution, and have a track record of achieving results and high standards. They must also be able to work on different teams and technologies, and have a desire to develop their knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing technical publications.
