Job Title: Quality and Clinical Risk Manager Department: Quality Department Job Type: Specified Purpose Contract - 12 months Hours: 37 per week (Full-Time) Blackrock Clinic is the leading and longest established private hospital and clinic in Ireland. ROLE PURPOSE To lead, advise and manage (where appropriate) the development and implementation of Quality, Risk and Patient Safety structures and processes in the Hospital. To provide a high quality clinical risk and safety management service by ensuring patient safety is always a priority at the core of providing services.Support the hospital in the development and management of efficient, adequate quality processes, procedures and systems and the delivery of quality improvement programmes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Risk Management Collate, analyse and interpret incident data, identifying trends on aspect of quality risk and safety and generate reports on findings. Lead on Hospital Quality Initiatives to reduce clinical risks identified by incidents and near misses. Make and present recommendations to improve patient safety within the Hospital and ensure that these are followed through. In collaboration with Clinical Leads and Department Managers, identify and escalate risks for inclusion on the corporate risk register as appropriate Advise and support the Hospital on clinical risk & safety management development, embedding and implementation at senior level. Promote and support the implementation of open disclosure through staff education, training and support. Oversee the review and investigation of Serious Reportable Events and Serious Incidents, which includes preparing reports, advising the Executive Management Team of recommendations and ensuring the timely initiation and completion of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Reviews. Implement the application of recommendations arising from completed RCA reviews. Report progress at the appropriate committee meeting(s) and feedback to the relevant external agencies as necessary. Ensure the risk management database reporting function is timely and summarised reports are produced for departmental, hospital and group committee meetings. Quality Management: Collaborate with the clinical auditors to develop, modify, promote and co-ordinate clinical audits, identifying gaps and putting quality improvement programmes in place to address these gaps. Identify, promote and co-ordinate agreed quality improvement initiatives, lead on the education of staff regarding audit and development of quality improvement initiatives. Assist in the hospital accreditation survey process, lead on maintaining JCI accreditation and supporting achievement of other relevant quality standards and data requirements as appropriate Policy Development and monitoring of compliance as appropriate Maintaining records and systems necessary to fulfil policy including those containing confidential information To act as a resource to staff on issues related to quality improvement developments Responsible for continuous professional development of all new developments within the area of Quality & Risk/Accreditation in line with best practice in healthcare and continuous improvement To promote and support Best Practice within the Hospital leading by example to sustain a quality culture General Expectations Adhere to Human Resource policies as set out in The Blackrock Clinic Employee Manual. Cooperate and take part in the Blackrock Clinic Mission Statement in dealing with patients and clinic staff members. Comply with policies and procedures at Blackrock Clinic as regards Health & Safety, Accident and Incident Reporting, Complaints Procedure, Fire Policy and Evacuation. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and activities of Blackrock Clinic. Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress, hygiene and infection control policies of the clinic. Qualification and Experience Clinical experience essential- hospital or healthcare industry. Excellent analytical skills to enable analysis, interpretation of data and data extraction from multiple data sources. Experience in identifying, collecting, collating, analysing and presenting data essential The ability to evaluate complex information from a variety of sources and make effective decisions. Significant experience in effective operational problem solving utilising an inclusive approach which fosters learning and self-reliance amongst teams. Ability to think and act strategically and develop practical, innovative and creative solutions to the management of organisational issues and complex problems. Experience in regulatory and compliance with all aspects of local and national legislation/regulation, national and international best practice standards relating to the quality function Advanced Microsoft skills desirable Strong knowledge and experience with SOPs and audits Experience working in high confidence essential Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams in Healthcare / Risk or Quality Management at level 7 (or higher) essential and MSc desirable Why work at the Blackrock Clinic?
