Job Description

Ecas AG, a 37-year-old Quantity Surveying and Project Management practice with its headquarters in the centre of Zurich, is seeking to hire a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing team.Job RequirementsKey Responsibilities:Prepare high-level feasibility studies and cost analyses to support key decision-making.Participate in project workshops during design phases, providing insights on cost, procurement, contract negotiations, and financial viability.Lead/support value engineering exercises throughout various project stages to optimize costs.Liaise with project delivery teams to ensure construction budgets for upcoming developments are accurate and robust.Investigate and research innovative procurement strategies, material/product selection, and modern construction methods.Support the maintenance of the existing in-house database of construction costs.Assess and report on external cost documentation.Participate in contractor negotiations where appropriate.Attend meetings and conduct site visits as required.Person Specification:Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a PQS/Developers QS or similar environment. Candidates should be comfortable engaging with senior management.Cost Management: Experience in cost management and procurement for private residential and one-off developments.Self-Starter: Ability to take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of major projects.Teamwork: Strong capability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.Independence: Competence in working both independently and as part of an internal and/or external team.Communication Skills: Strong English written and verbal communication skills with clarity in delivery. German is an advantage.Education: Degree or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying.Chartered Professional: Support for the successful candidate will be provided by Ecas AG to achieve chartered status. Existing chartered status (SCSI / RICS) an advantage.Technical Skills: Understanding of BIM and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, extensive experience with MS Excel will be required. Experience with CostX / iTwo is an advantage.Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with a collaborative mindset.Continuous Learning: Willingness to attend training and develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.Additional Information: This is a Permanent full-time position, located in Zurich, Switzerland.
