Job Description

My client is a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Maintenance Contracting company in Ireland. Established in the 90s they have built a strong reputation as a multi-disciplinary projects firm, acquiring extensive experience across various sectors, including Pharmaceuticals, Data Centres, Healthcare, and large Commercial Projects. With over 23 years in business, they are dedicated to growing and strengthening our team to achieve excellence. Role Purpose: The position is primarily focused on the Mechanical Quantity Surveyor role for a significant third-level college project. The successful candidate will manage all commercial aspects of assigned live construction projects, from establishing initial cost budgets to compiling and closing final accounts. Collaboration with the project team is essential to ensure projects are completed within budget and that all financial elements are well-organized. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious quantity surveyor to contribute to a developing and expanding department within a rapidly growing business. Key Responsibilities: Analyse tender Bills of Quantities (BoQs) to establish construction budgets for assigned projects. Track monthly costs against budgets and provide regular reports. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding the commercial aspects of projects. Prepare, submit, and secure certification for Monthly Payment Claim Notices. Compile costs and negotiate contract adjustments throughout the project, maintaining high recording standards. Maintain accurate records, ensuring that all project commercial registers are continuously updated. Certify subcontractors and manage accurate control accounts for each. Oversee contractual aspects of projects, including the review and management of contracts, collateral warranties, and bonds. Monitor commercial performance monthly, forecasting completion and cash flow projections for all assigned projects. Report monthly on project commercial performance alongside the project Contracts Manager to directors during progress meetings. Ensure QS departmental reports and claims are issued internally and externally by the required deadlines. Identify and evaluate potential risks related to the commercial aspects of the projects. Role Requirements: Qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a quantity surveying role with a mechanical contractor. Strong understanding of mechanical installations. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure. Excellent negotiation and communication skills, particularly concerning M&E components. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and methodical record-keeping. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
