Charlene Cooke Healthcare Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a Highly experienced Radiotherapy Operations Manager to join a multidisciplinary Radiotherapy department in Cork. Overview of department & role: We are looking for a dynamic, passionate Radiotherapy Operations Manager to join a growing multidisciplinary team in Cork. This hospital is renowned for providing exceptional patient care and state of the art Radiotherapy. They offer opportunities and support for presenting, conference attendance and collaboration with academic partners like UCC and UCD to provide teaching and mentorship. The department: Currently has 2 Varian linear accelerators: a TrueBeam and an Edge. They offer IMRT, V-MAT and advanced techniques including SRS and SABR. They have a GE CT-simulation scanner and provide Radiation Therapist-led IV contrast delivery. The successful candidate: Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in a radiotherapy department, with significant time spent in a leadership or management role. Proven track record in managing complex radiotherapy operations, including scheduling, equipment management, and staff supervision. Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation within a healthcare setting. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with multidisciplinary teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies. Position Overview: The Radiotherapy Operations Manager Radiation Oncology will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Radiation Oncology Department. Responsibilities include the management of clinical operations, quality management, regulatory affairs, continuing education, and financial responsibilities. The successful candidate will manage opportunities to improve patient safety and will participate in projects and programs designed to reduce errors, improve processes, and to create a culture of continuous quality improvement resulting in an exceptional patient experience. Clinical Operations Management Coordinates the operations of the Radiation Oncology Department. Through positive leadership techniques influences and oversees all staff both clinical and non-clinical Ensures adequate personnel coverage to meet volume demands and adjust schedules as necessary in order to ensure patient safety standards. Develops/Implements/Administers network policies and procedures to standardise quality patient care Produces high quality work in a timely fashion to meet established deadlines. Work is accurate and substantiated by fact. Provide effective financial oversight by balancing expenses against budget. Utilising a shared governance approach and will work with Director of Oncology and Leadership staff, managers, HR Leadership and all other staff in the operations of the radiation oncology department. Will demonstrate effective communication techniques with patients, staff, management and senior leadership in daily operations. Works collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders to develop and improve the service offering as well as promotion and advocacy of positive patient experience. Quality Assurance/CQI Program Management Prioritise patient safety at all times. Oversee the department QA program and establishes meaningful, measurable QA programs to meet regulatory demands. Oversee departmental CQI Activities. Conducts CQI meetings, sets goals and objectives for improvement, and measures results. Results are documented using hospital standards. Works in conjunction with the site Medical Director, other Radiation Oncologists and all staff to maintain high standards for quality service. Ensures quality standards are met and leads the department through accreditations and inspections. Regulatory Affairs Management Coordinates the regulatory compliance activities and maintains continuous departmental readiness for inspections and surveys. Acts as a liaison to Radiation Protection Officer, medical physicists, medical director and coordinates safety compliance program Continuing Education Management Assesses learning needs of staff utilising surveys, QA Program Results, advice from Radiation Oncologists, and new processes and procedures. Implements or coordinates training programs to meet the needs of the staff. Performs staff reviews and address performance/ competencies in accordance with the hospitals policy. Business Responsibilities Supervises and oversees site budget, including operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the Director of Oncology. Monitors and analyses financial performance, including profitability and volume metrics. Implements appropriate changes to increase efficiencies, enhance revenue, and control expenses. Maintains FTEs at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes. Maintains supply and total expenses at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes. Oversees billing and revenue capture initiatives working in collaboration with the site's Medical Director. Eligibility Criteria: Bachelors degree in Radiation Therapy, Healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's Degree and Radiation Therapy experience preferred Must have at least 3-6 years appropriate post qualification experience of progressive management In-depth knowledge of radiotherapy techniques, protocols, and technologies, including the use of linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and radiation safety procedures. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development, staff mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation processes related to radiotherapy. Experience in ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations, including radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, patients, and senior management.
