Job Summary: Taste Fermentation Scientist

Develop and implement new and improved production processes for existing products, new and improved production strains, or develop new products using yeast and yeast extract.

About the Role

Kerry is a leading taste and nutrition company that partners with customers to create healthier, tastier, and more sustainable products. As a Taste Fermentation Scientist, you will be part of the RDA team at the Global Innovation Centre in Naas, working alongside biochemists and scientists to develop new and improved production processes and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Taste RDA team in R&D projects to develop new and improved production processes and products.
  • Participate in the planning of projects, providing critical feedback and creative technical solutions for innovative experimental designs.
  • Operate advanced bioreactor systems and carry out testing and analysis on experimental samples.
  • Process and report all experimental results, playing a key role in reporting to project stakeholders.
  • Participate in R&D project meetings and reviews, providing critical feedback and technology insight.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the fermentation lab, in terms of maintenance, hygiene, consumables, procedures, and QSHE.

Key Deliverables

  • Experimental design and formulation of robust experiments.
  • Flawless execution of fermentation and microbiology experiments.
  • Technical reporting of experiments and timely R&D project delivery.
  • Laboratory management and maintenance.
  • Innovation and ideation towards improvements in production processes and new product developments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum MSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • PhD and relevant internships are advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience in microbial fermentation, industrial microbiology, or related field.
  • Autonomous operation of bioreactor systems with advanced controls.
  • Experience at pilot scale or in production environment is a plus.
