Job Description

Renewable Operations is responsible for the Operation and Maintenance Management of the clients Renewable and Distributed Generation asset portfolio.? As part of delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy the client will generate 70% of our electricity generation from renewable assets by 2030. This will involve an increase to 5,000MW of renewable generation, offshore wind, onshore wind and solar. Also developing renewable enabling flexible generation assets including battery energy storage systems, flexible gas plant and grid support devices such as synchronous condensers. The portfolio currently consists of Onshore Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Flexible Gas Plant and a Synchronous Condenser. The further development of the portfolio will include the expansion of these assets including other technologies such as Solar and Hydrogen. The assets are monitored and controlled in real time from the Renewable Operations Centre (ROC) in the office on a 24/7 basis. This control centre acts a communications hub for the sites and activities surrounding them e.g. Wind Turbine Safety Rules, interface point for System Operator, Trading coordination, Testing and Commissioning, Emergency Response and monitoring activities and personnel onsite or initiating site response as required. The ROC also plays a key role in supporting the management of both the technical and commercial performance of the assets. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities of the ROC Operations Manager will include the items below: Overall day to day management of the Renewable Operations Centre in the monitoring and control of multiple technologies. Ensuring discharge of Control Centre duties in Safety processes and procedures such as Wind Turbine Safety Rules, Emergency Response, Emergency Procedures, Crisis Management and Business Continuity. Delivery of Alarm Management across multiple technologies, ensuring best practice approach to systems and processes. Ensuring adequate resourcing, capability and development of Operations staff in line with Competency Assurance processes, including development of succession plans as additional assets and technologies are developed. Delivering key role in Performance Management of assets and associated data in conjunction with central Renewable Operations Performance teams, including adoption of the relevant digital analytic tools. Ensuring reliable operation of Control Centre systems such as HMI/SCADA, EDIL, Opralog, Process Cameras, Wind Turbine Safety Rule applications and Alarm Systems. Coordinate the contracted third-party OEM support services such as 24/7 OEM oncall facilities. Maintaining the Prompt Trading interaction and engagement to ensure assets are positioned and operated in line with their strategy and relevant market areas including management of market participant responsibilities such as REMIT. Provide operational input and information on assets to relevant Renewable Operations Production teams, through Technical Services/Asset Management engagement, shift logs and relevant production/operations meetings. Adopting the latest Remote Operations practices in line with industry best practice and use of digital tools to enhance operations processes, such as asset monitoring, asset optimisation and safety application. Support the mobilisation and integration of new assets into Remote Operation Centre as the portfolio develops and expands. Ensure the Remote Operations Centre operates to the clients Cyber Security policy and relevant protocols. Proactive management of a range of internal and external Stakeholders in day to day operation of Renewables Centre. Leadership role in Safety Health and Wellbeing in all aspects of Operations and in line with Safe and Sound principles. Operate as part of the wider Renewables Management team in delivering against targets in the relevant Business Plans. Provide regular updates to senior management team. Understanding and implementing all necessary regulatory requirements. Experience and Qualifications Essential The successful candidate will: Proven ability to deliver on the key responsibilities outlined above. 5+ years Energy Industry work experience Relevant 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is required. Experience in Operational and Maintenance requirements of various Generating Technologies. Strong Commercial acumen and awareness. Effective Stakeholder Management internal, external, technology providers/contractors. Knowledge of Operational & Safety requirements with Strong Safety Leadership Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a team. Ability to respond to change within a fast-changing environment. Good decision making and problem solving capability. Location The successful candidate will be based at the Renewable Operations Centre (ROC) in Dublin.
