Research Accounts Administrator UCD are currently recruiting for a Research Accounts Administrator to assist in the financial administration of all university research activity in the Research Finance Office. **Job Summary** We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research Accounts Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of research projects, preparing cost statements and grant claim forms, and providing accounting support to academic staff. **Key Responsibilities** * Prepare or assist in the preparation of cost statements and grant claim forms * Submit all cost statements and grant claim forms on a timely basis * Assist in the preparation of research-funded VAT returns * Check project account budgets against student/staff appointments to projects * Deal with queries from researchers and funding bodies concerning research activity * Monitor expenditure on the university's research accounts * Ensure research accounts have an up-to-date budget * Liaise with funding bodies regarding financial aspects of funded research projects * Assist in the preparation of year-end audit files * Provide an advisory service to researchers in respect of contract administration * Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of research accounting procedures * Provide accounting support to academic staff under the supervision of the Head of Office or designate **Requirements** * Experience in accounting/book-keeping * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral * Demonstrate administrative and organisational ability, including the ability to manage competing priorities * Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet and e-mail * Ability to work to deadlines and to take decisions * Prior experience of working in a role requiring discretion when handling confidential information * Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team * Proven ability to prioritise work * High level of accuracy and attention to detail * Previous experience of working in a busy and demanding office environment **Desirable Criteria** * Experience in accounting for funded research * Pursuing a professional accountancy qualification * Knowledge of VAT issues relating to funded research * Understanding of the audit process * Experience of University accounting system (eFinancials)
