Job Description

We're seeking a Safety Engineer to join our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team at Pfizer's Ringaskiddy API site in Cork.

As a Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of safety for our patients and colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include providing operational and process safety support, promoting incident reporting, and leading safety investigations and audits.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and process safety support to agreed operational areas.
  • Promote reporting of incidents and near misses and ensure appropriate assessments and oversight of these incidents and corrective actions.
  • Set and continuously improve safety standards and drive adherence to legal and corporate standard requirements.
  • Lead agreed elements and support relevant elements of the Safety Management System.
  • Propose, develop and implement improvements and modifications from a safety perspective to process areas, procedures, and equipment in order to improve operations.
  • Lead process, task and equipment risk assessments.
  • Provide relevant training to colleagues, where required.
  • Support safety investigations throughout the site.
  • Conduct safety audits and continuously improve the site safety management systems.

Requirements:

  • A relevant safety qualification.
  • Ideally have a minimum of 1-2 years' relevant experience.
  • A good understanding of safety and process engineering, including general processing and plant operations is essential.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as possessing problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Bachelor's Science degree or a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Health & Safety Management) or MSc, HDip (Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety).
  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic systems and risk assessment tools.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization.
