Job Description
This course provides an entry-level awareness program for those new to health and safety coordination, focusing on identifying hazards, risk assessments, and accident investigation.
Course Objectives
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of an organisation's safety statement
- Understand the core contents, arrangements, resources, roles, and responsibilities required to manage health and safety
- Identify necessary policies and administrative controls to manage health and safety risks
- Coordinate the completion of risk assessments of work activities
- Identify common hazards and risks in the workplace
- Identify sources of guidance and advice on health and safety
- Coordinate the investigation of accidents and prepare reports
Target Audience
This program is designed for those who have recently been assigned health and safety coordination as part of their existing role, particularly HR officers, managers, supervisors, or employees new to occupational safety and health.
Course Structure

Course Facilitator
Sean Rooney has 15 years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health, including as Programme Director with Ibec Academy. He holds a Higher Diploma in Safety & Health at Work from UCD and has consulted with various high-profile customers on projects such as training course design, claims management, hazard identification, and risk reduction.
