Job Description

1.
Always ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority by greeting each customer as if it's their first visit to the store and consistently deliver an exceptional service by displaying I-CARE service excellence behaviours;

  • Organised, self-driven, excellent attention to detail and use own initiative;
  • Approachable and a role model who leads by example and encourages teamwork, foster a positive attitude and atmosphere in the workplace;
  • To ensure targets agreed with Store Manager/Owner are achieved;
  • Seek opportunities for personal development to enhance technical and professional skills;
  • Develop the ambient team to meet the Super Valu Retail Excellence and I-CARE Service Excellence standards by training, coaching, undertaking performance appraisals, and assessing employee training requirements, ensuring appropriate training programmes are in place as agreed with the Store Manager;
  • Oversee and ensure the smooth running of the ambient departments by prioritising and delegating the workload appropriately;
  • Foster good working relationships among the team;
  • Participate in community events as directed by Store Owner/Manager;
  • Hold regular meetings and communicate relevant details and results to the team;
  • Ensure all employees wear their full uniform, name badge and display a neat appearance at all times as per their department;
  • Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition and encouragement;
  • Deal with all customer queries and complaints politely, professionally and consistent with store policy;
  • Have a working knowledge of and ensure compliance with relevant legislation as it pertains to the Store, in particular but not limited to, Food Safety regulations, Health & Safety regulations, sale of alcohol and employment legislation;
  • Ensure all HACCP best practices are implemented across the store;
  • Achieve Emerald status in EIQA;
  • Ensure adherence to Store rules, policies and procedures;
  • Manage employee rostering and annual leave for fresh departments;
  • Set, monitor and achieve sales targets with the team on gross profit margin, net margin, waste and other KPIs as agreed with Store Manager;
  • Control stocktaking and overheads as per agreed store budget;
  • Ensure merchandising and presentation of the ambient department(s) is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines;
  • Implement policies to gain operational efficiencies i.e.
Gold reports/scanning information etc.;

  • Attend relevant training as required and implement learnings in store;
  • Actively live Super Valu brand-values i.e.
Genuine, Passion for Food, Vibrant, Committed, Innovative and Imaginative.
Implementation of Planograms and compliance.

  • Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time.
These may be outside of your normal area of work.

Furthermore, you may be assigned to work in other areas within the Store on either a temporary or permanent basis.
