Position: Senior Automation Engineer Location: Co. Galway Salary: €80,000 - €100,000 Exciting Opportunity: Senior Automation Engineer in Galway! About Our Client: Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing and technology sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Engineer to lead their automation projects in Galway. This role focuses on developing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions to drive production efficiency and optimise processes. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced automation systems for production processes. Oversee the programming and configuration of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency. Manage complex automation projects from conception through to completion, ensuring all goals, timelines, and budgets are met. Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues related to automation systems and equipment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality departments, to drive automation improvements. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all automation activities. Evaluate and implement the latest automation technologies and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge in production. Maintain thorough documentation of automation processes, system updates, and project progress. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelors degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Masters degree is a plus. Extensive experience (5+ years) as an Automation Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems. Proven ability to lead large-scale automation projects and manage multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously. Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
