Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Backbone Network Business Developer to drive the development and scaling of one of the world's largest and most complex networks, leveraging expertise in telecommunications, network engineering, and vendor management.
Amazon Web Services is a leading provider of cloud infrastructure, with a global network that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries. We are looking for a highly motivated and commercially savvy individual to join our Backbone Network Development team, responsible for planning, developing, and acquiring the network that drives Amazon's internal infrastructure and connects it to the rest of the world.
**Key Responsibilities:** • Serve as a key member of the EMEAI Backbone Network Development team, driving overall Network Infrastructure strategy and executing strategic backbone network plans • Identify suppliers and develop technical and commercial solutions for wavelengths, dark fibre, and submarine cable capacity • Organize, track, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver new backbone capacity for Amazon • Work with network planners and engineers to ensure efficient and cost-effective network topology • Collaborate with finance partners on budget creation, business case development, and supplier invoicing • Track telecoms market trends and developments, including vendor technologies, coverage, cost, and deal structures • Manage supplier onboarding, relationships, performance, and service quality • Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk, and balance business needs versus technical constraints
**Requirements:** • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and work experience • Telecommunications industry experience in a similar environment • Experience in managing suppliers/customers or partners • Ability to create complex financial models to understand business impacts of various network solutions • Demonstrated ability to formulate data-driven decisions that lead to results
**Preferred Qualifications:** • Experience working at a large network operator, OTT, or Internet Service Provider • Ability to anticipate customer requirements and build strategic plans • In-depth knowledge of the latest optical communications developments • In-depth knowledge of and experience with major internet routing protocols • Ability to speak multiple languages
