Sr Business Analyst Job Summary: Analyze complex data, review business processes, and develop strategic solutions to improve health outcomes and drive business growth in a global healthcare organization.

The role of a Sr Business Analyst at Optum is to analyze complex data, review business processes, and develop strategic solutions to improve health outcomes and drive business growth in a global healthcare organization. As a key member of the Business Analysis & Reporting team, you will be part of United Health Group's mission of helping people live healthier lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze, review, forecast and trend complex data, reviewing the analysis and interpretation of others' work
  • Conduct and present variance analyses as required each month following month-end business close, explaining all significant variances
  • Support analysis and interpretation of results for operational business reviews and planning
  • Monitor performance, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of major variances
  • Analyze key performance indicator trends for all operational areas including P&L
  • Assist in establishing operational scorecards as well as appropriate business and/or client level targets based on analysis
  • Develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research & analysis of data & business processes
  • Produce and maintain financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Develop, support, and present ad-hoc client and operational reports
  • Develops innovative approaches to achieve deliverables
  • Support short- and long-term operational/strategic business activities through analysis
  • Develops and documents complex business analysis and reporting requirements
  • SUPPORTS multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, or related field or 8+ years of directly applicable Business / Financial Analysis experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree
  • Strong experience as a Business, Data, or Finance Analyst
  • Proven experience working with relational databases & database structures (such as SQL, Oracle, or Teradata)
  • Experience in analyzing business processes and workflows, and providing evaluations and benchmarks
  • Experience in documenting business processes and generating creative solutioning
  • Advanced Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Power Point)
  • Fast learner, analytical thinker, very detail oriented
  • Excellent ability to communicate analyses including trends and opportunities to clients and the business both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in a leadership, through people, project, or stakeholder leadership
  • Highly motivated, Creative and Innovative thinker
  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members in a hands-on capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related areas; MBA (or equivalent work experience)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Tableau, Alteryx, or equivalent tool experience and aptitude for learning new BI systems
  • High standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
  • Highly motivated and driven individual with the ability to think creatively
  • Demonstrated ability to work with team members in a hands-on capacity
  • Healthcare industry experience, ideally with Co-ordination of Benefits knowledge
