About the Role

Optum, a global healthcare company, is seeking a highly skilled Business Risk Management Consultant to join their team. As a Fortune 5 business, Optum offers a dynamic and diverse work environment with opportunities for growth and development.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial and security audits, as well as commercial client assessments. They will work closely with the Associate Director of Data Security and Governance to support the development of the data security and governance framework.

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions with business partners and document complex business processes. The successful candidate will also have experience conducting risk reviews, reviewing audit testing results, and communicating audit findings to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a well-informed resource for OPI Valuestreams to ensure successful audit outcomes
  • Protect assets by ensuring compliance with internal control procedures and regulations
  • Lead discussions with business partners to learn, understand, and document complex business processes
  • Conduct risk reviews of business valuestreams and report results to leadership
  • Review and document audit testing results, where evidence conclusions are reached
  • Communicate and lead audit demonstrations with external audit firms
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and complete work papers in accordance with department quality standards
  • Identify audit issues and perform root cause analysis with practical corrective solutions
  • Communicate audit results with business partners to ensure proper actions are taken to obtain compliance
  • Assist with preparing and educating business partners and control owners on requirements and expectations for audit assessments
  • Execute scoping and planning activities and perform detailed procedures for different types of audits
  • Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, with a focus on Healthcare Compliance, Auditing, Risk Management, Technology, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in conducting compliance, financial, and/or operations audits
  • Experience communicating complex information via phone conversations and emails to technical and non-technical clients, external customers, internal customers, and executives
  • Demonstrate flexibility, availability, and dependability to conform to position responsibilities and department needs
  • Previous experience in providing explanations and information to others on the most complex issues and performing complex conceptual analysis
