Senior Site Engineer required to lead technical aspects of road construction and civil engineering projects in Ireland.

Oradeo Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join a leading road construction and civil engineering company. This role offers an excellent remuneration package and clear career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as main technical adviser on construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives
  • Set out, level, and survey site, reconciling tender submissions
  • Check plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculation
  • Ensure all materials used and work performed are in accordance with specifications
  • Oversee selection and requisition of materials
  • Agree prices for materials and make cost-effective solutions and proposals for projects
  • Manage, monitor, and interpret contract design documents supplied by clients or architects
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and workforce involved in projects
  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws
  • Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers, and surveyors)
  • Attend regular meetings to keep clients/representatives informed of progress
  • Carry out day-to-day management of site, supervising and monitoring site labour force and work of subcontractors
  • Plan work and organise required plant and site facilities to meet agreed deadlines
  • Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Keep central management updated daily on general progress of project completion
  • Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
  • Oversee site operations and assist with site paperwork
  • Manage and oversee all engineering functions and assist in all contracts as required
  • Work in conjunction with Safety Cert Health and Safety System
  • Site setting out, taking measures, and creating As-builts drawings
  • Help negotiate final accounts with measurement records
  • Assist with Tendering Pre-Quals
  • Oversee and carry out risk analysis
  • Order materials from suppliers
  • Manage site staff and get involved with general overall productivity
  • Liaise and run surfacing crews on site
  • Directly manage a number of projects, with site agents and client engineers reporting to Directors
  • Involving commercial ability, including traffic management, interim and final accounts, and contract claims where appropriate
  • Manage contracts from initial enquiry through programme, preparation for paving, civils, lining, billing, and account agreement
  • Manage Project Costs on site and liaise and attend meetings as required with the company accountant

Necessary Skills and Requirements:

  • 3rd level qualification in Construction Management/Engineering
  • Ideally possessing 3+ years' experience working with a main contractor/specialist subcontractor acting as a Site Engineer within Ireland or the UK
  • Strong setting out experience
  • Strong operational skills and an attention to detail
  • Familiar with MS Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ideally you will possess experience working in the following sectors: commercial, pharmaceutical, residential, high rise, industrial, data centre, mixed use in excess of €5 million
