About the Role Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, London, Belfast or Dublin. Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family. Reporting directly to SSE's Head of Climate, this exciting role focused on Climate Policy, Risk and Adaptation will: 1. Provide expert advice on emerging climate policies and practice to support SSE's Transition to Net Zero and inform the quality and coverage of SSE's Climate Change Policy. 2. Lead the development of a comprehensive Group-wide strategy for Climate Adaptation, ensuring strategy alignment across the group and represent SSE in relevant climate forums. 3. Consolidate, align and catalogue climate risk assessments and work in partnership with finance to annually review SSE's climate risk and opportunity scenario analysis for TCFD disclosures. 4. Support the Sustainability reporting team to implement sector-leading climate disclosures (including Climate Advocacy) in alignment with international standards, best practice and contributing positively to practical climate action in the power sector and corporate world. 5. Provide expertise and coordination to climate leads embedded within Business Units on climate risk assessments, adaptation and policy development. What do I need? If you're ready to take on a leading role in climate action, drive sustainability, and contribute to a net zero future, SSE is the place for you. You'll already be a climate change expert and demonstrate a broad understanding of the power sector in the UK or Ireland, as well as an understanding of decarbonisation pathways and adaptation strategies. To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: 1. Expert technical knowledge and understanding of climate science, corporate disclosure frameworks (including ISSB and CSRD), international and national climate policy frameworks, and climate issues in a corporate context. 2. Knowledge and previous experience of undertaking climate risk assessments, developing adaptation plans and preparing TCFD disclosures. 3. Exceptional communication skills, able to communicate complex technical and scientific issues to a non-technical audience of decision makers and business leaders. 4. Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and Business Units to reach alignment on decarbonisation and adaptation policies, strategies and plans. 5. Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills, with a problem-solving mindset and ability to drive innovation.
