Job Description

**Senior Controls Engineer** A highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer is required to lead the development and commissioning of automation and control systems, working closely with Corporate Teams to design equipment, guide people on site, and assist in training. We have a new opening for a Senior Controls Engineer with a Medical Device company based in Athlone. This position will be a Hybrid based role, requiring on-site presence 1-2 days per week. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in the New Product side and assist with the implementation of new technologies. **Key Responsibilities:** * Lead the development and commissioning of automation and control systems * Design, specify, program, simulate, test, and provide start-up assistance for automation and control systems * Focus on levels 1 to 3 of the ISA pyramid, working closely with project teams and OEMs to deliver optimum solutions * Manage the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects with direct responsibility for control systems * Lead discussions with project teams, provide technical support, and make informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection **Requirements:** * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Computer Sciences, or a relevant field * Over 10 years in an Engineering role, preferably in Medical Devices, Life Sciences, or Pharma * Excellent knowledge of control system engineering in the automation and overall operation of complex electro-mechanical systems * Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley control systems and Siemens PLC platforms **Desirable Skills:** * Expertise in Process Automation and Systems Integration * Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagram (FBD), and structured text (ST) * Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and cybersecurity principles and techniques for securing SCADA systems **Benefits:** * Competitive salary and benefits package * Healthcare * Employer Pension Contribution * Hybrid position – 1-2 days onsite per week
