Job Description
Senior Engineer sought to lead the development and scaling of core technologies at Intercom, a fast-growing start-up.
We're looking for a seasoned engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and architecture of distributed systems, including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Linux.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with domain experts to shape technical direction and infrastructure
- Deeply owning aspects of our infrastructure and executing on high-impact projects
- Contributing to all phases of software development, including ideation, prototyping, design, and implementation
- Playing an active role in the hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers
- Raising the bar for technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a production environment, with contributions to the design and architecture of distributed systems
- Expertise in backend technologies such as MySQL, Elasticsearch, Memcached, and Linux
- Significant, demonstrated impact on the product and/or the teams you worked with
- Proficient with standard software engineering methodologies, including unit testing, object-oriented design, data structures, code reviews, and design documentation
- Understanding of modern web apps and distributed systems, along with an ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions
