Senior Design Engineer required to drive a culture of safety and quality in a leading construction company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive an embedded HS&E culture, creating a continually progressive culture that prioritizes safety.
  • Liaise with consultants, architects, and subcontractors to manage design coordination and information.
  • Compile and implement the Project Execution Plan, with specific reference to the HSE & Quality plan.
  • Prepare contract reports and provide updates to monthly cost meetings.
  • Review buildability and identify methods of construction with commercial or program advantage.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Develop project plans and schedules and execute plans to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate project activities in accordance with company Quality System, Standard Quality Procedures, and Engineering Specifications.
  • Manage the day-to-day life-cycle of projects from initial stages through to hand-over.
  • Meet agreed objectives in the areas of timely delivery, cost, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Achieve a 'right first time' philosophy throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage the day-to-day site operations of subcontractors on site.
  • Manage the work flow of subcontractors ensuring they're in line with the program of works on site.
  • Attend regular meetings with clients, architects, and consultants, and keep them informed of progress.
  • Quality management and BCAR coordination, overseeing quality control and safety matters on the site.
  • Handle technical queries when necessary and interface with the client, consultant, and architect in regards to RFIs.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering discipline, Civil, Structural, or Construction Management.
  • Experience ideally within a main/specialist contractor.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player with ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the construction industry and project execution.
  • Computer literate and familiar with MS office, project, (or similar scheduling package).
  • Good knowledge of safety management and quality management.
  • Ability to lead with confidence, mentor, and motivate staff under them.
