Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer sought to lead innovative electrical team in Cork or Dublin, Ireland, designing life-changing facilities for pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing.
At IPS, you'll utilize your expertise to drive complex projects forward, collaborating with a talented team to deliver world-class designs. As a seasoned electrical engineer, you'll oversee the entire design process, mentor junior team members, and develop staffing plans to meet business objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a small team of electrical engineers and designers
- Mentoring and developing junior team members
- Overseeing the entire design process or engaging as a technical expert on specialized designs
- Assessing project requirements, breaking tasks into manageable chunks, and working with project managers to determine scope, budget, and staffing
- Forecasting work 12-16 weeks out and creating construction schedules
- Reviewing team progress, alerting project managers to changes in scope, and maintaining quality in accordance with company standards
- Recruiting and retaining talent, developing staffing plans, and overseeing manpower planning
- Researching design options, writing electrical design scopes of work, and preparing engineering studies and schematic designs
- Creating drawings, sketches, and specialized diagrams, such as electrical riser diagrams
- Specifying local codes and industry-standard equipment, estimating, reviewing contractor applications, and coordinating document completion
- Connecting with clients to ensure satisfaction and build relationships
Requirements:
- 15 years of previous design experience
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (Auto CAD, Revit, etc.)
- Experience with design of building electrical systems, including building service, power distribution, generators, lighting, fire alarm, security, and other low-voltage systems
- Strong understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70 E, NFPA 72, IBC, and other related building codes and standards
Preferred qualifications:
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, nutraceutical, or life science industry experience
- Experience with medium-voltage systems, electrical hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications systems
