Job Description
Senior Engineer to join our civil team on a project based in South Dublin. The Glenamuck District Distributor Road Scheme is a major construction project involving the construction of 890m of four lane dual carriageway, 1800m of dual carriageway, existing junction upgrades, and structures, drainage, utilities, Accommodation Works and traffic management. The successful candidate will have a degree in Construction/Engineering/Logistics, a proven track record in delivering construction/civils/logistics operations, strong management and leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing programme and working budget with your manager
- Ensuring the works are carried out in accordance with the contract documents and relevant Instructions
- Identifying and analysing problem areas/activities
- Organising and scheduling resources
- Managing the flow of information and documentation
- Ensuring effective systems exist for tracking dockets and approving labour & plant allocation sheets
- Arranging and running weekly site meetings
- Supporting your foreman
- Checking outputs, quantities, critical activities and costs on a weekly basis
- Managing the project cash flow in conjunction with the PQS and your manager
- Reporting monthly on progress vs. programme, cost vs. budget, cost vs. value, cost to completion, variations, delays, and any other problem issues
- Procuring, negotiating and letting subcontract and supplier packages in conjunction with the PQS, your manager and purchasing department
- Implementing the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS)
- Maintaining the trust of others in your day-to-day dealings and good relations with the client's team
- Managing & leading those staff assigned to the project
- Recruiting, selecting, developing, inspiring, praising, correcting & disciplining as appropriate
- Monitoring industrial relations issues with the hourly-paid workforce
- Conducting performance reviews with all subordinate staff
- Ensuring site staff receive relevant and appropriate training
- Mentoring junior staff
- Assuming the duties of a senior engineer where necessary
