Senior Engineer

A highly skilled Senior Engineer is required to lead a team of engineers on a prestigious construction project in Kilkenny, Ireland.

  • Review designs for buildability and generate schedules of issues for each stage of construction.
  • Maintain and update the list of issues during construction, reviewing regularly with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure the project has the required engineering and technical resource to fulfill all engineering duties.
  • Provide leadership to engineering staff and ensure they have the necessary training and mentoring.
  • Liaise with the design team to ensure the construction team has all required information.
  • Generate and maintain the RFI (Request for Information) Schedule in line with the programme requirements.
  • Hold responsible people to account for providing required design information and responding.
  • Provide clear reporting to the project management team on design status and impact.
  • Be fully aware of the Programme of the project (Design, Procurement, Lead-in, and Construction).
  • Challenge the design to provide commercial benefit where possible.
  • Take responsibility for dimensional control and ensure a robust checking system is in place.
  • Submit technical submissions within the required timescales.
  • Generate an Inspection and Test Plan Schedule in line with the Works Information.
  • Generate and/or review method statements and risk assessments.
  • Carry out necessary inspections and audits of Works.
  • Agree the extent of responsibility in each package of works.
  • Sign off on subcontract packages and ensure they conform with the specification.
  • Ensure all contractors adopt a safe system of works.
  • Review all method statements prior to the works commencing.
  • Take specific care in high-risk works involved.
  • Take responsibility for coordination of all temporary works.
  • Participate in weekly services engineering meetings.
  • Ensure all relevant persons are in attendance.
  • Understand individual package values and report on events that may impact these values.
  • Ensure all events that may have a commercial and/or time impact are clearly reported.
  • Maintain detailed diaries with relevant information.
  • Ensure site engineers maintain detailed diaries/records.
  • Ensure the design is coordinated to allow for all building services.
  • Attend weekly design meetings as required.
  • Ensure BIM usage is endorsed and employed to maximise gains.
  • Understand and employ the project/company quality system.
  • Ensure all contractors comply with the required quality control.
  • A system must be employed whereby the contractor must offer their works for inspection.
  • All actions from each inspection must be closed out before the next stage of works proceeds.
  • Generate an NCR (nonconformance report) register and maintain during construction.
  • Hold responsible persons and contractors to account and provide detailed weekly reports.
  • Prior to completion agree snagging process with the project manager.
  • Take responsibility for snagging programme as tasked by the PM.
  • Hold subcontractors to account and close out all snags by timely.
  • Provide a schedule of lessons learnt to the Contracts/Project Manager.
  • Provide assistance to close out all subcontractor accounts.
  • Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
  • Take responsibility for selection and requisition of materials and plant.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with health and safety and any other legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the performance of all employees assigned to you.
  • Attend and engage fully in any learning and development activities.
  • Participate and engage fully in company appraisal/performance review processes.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team of professionals.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at a high level of quality.
  • Ability to work well within a deadline environment.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with a Main Contractor in Ireland or the UK.
  • Motivated individual that likes to work in a fast-moving environment.
