Senior Engineer

Leading Building Contractors with operations throughout Ireland and the UK are seeking a Senior Engineer in Kilkenny to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with like-minded people on award-winning multi-million-euro projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review designs for buildability and generate schedules of issues for each stage of construction.
  • Ensure engineering and technical resources are available to fulfill all engineering duties.
  • Liaise with design teams to ensure construction teams have required information.
  • Generate and maintain RFI schedules and hold responsible people to account for providing required design information.
  • Be aware of project programs and challenge designs to provide commercial benefits.
  • Take responsibility for dimensional control and ensure robust checking systems are in place.
  • Submit technical submissions within required timescales and take note of required approval/response periods.
  • Generate Inspection and Test Plan Schedules and review method statements and risk assessments.
  • Carry out necessary inspections and audits of works or delegate to suitable team members.
  • Agree extent of responsibility in each package of works and advise on required scope of works.
  • Ensure all contractors adopt safe systems of works and review method statements prior to works commencing.
  • Take responsibility for coordination of all temporary works and maintain temporary works registers.
  • Participate in weekly services engineering meetings and provide updates to project management teams.
  • Understand individual package values and report on events that may impact these values.
  • Ensure designs are coordinated to allow for all building services and flag problems to project managers or design coordinators.
  • Understand and employ project/company quality systems to ensure required quality assurance.
  • Ensure all contractors comply with required quality control and offer works for inspection to clients.
  • Generate NCR registers and maintain during construction and hold responsible persons and contractors to account.
  • Agree snagging processes with project managers and take responsibility for snagging programs.
  • Provide schedules of lessons learnt to contracts/project managers at end of project and during execution.
  • Provide assistance to close out subcontractor accounts and advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
  • Take responsibility for selection and requisition of materials and plant for use during construction works.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with health and safety and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage performance of all employees assigned to you in accordance with legislation and company procedures.
  • Attend and engage fully in learning and development activities and participate in company appraisal/performance review processes.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team of professionals
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at a high level of quality
  • Ability to work well within a deadline environment
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience with a Main Contractor in Ireland or the UK
  • Motivated individual that likes to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication skills
