Job Description

Senior Estimator role for a leading Irish construction contractor, requiring 6+ years' experience in estimating or quantity surveying, with a strong analytical and numeracy background.

Our clients are leading Irish Contractors who undertake large scale construction projects throughout Ireland, with a strong presence in various sectors including Civil, Residential, Data Centres, Hospitality, Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, and Pharmaceutical.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Calculating the anticipated cost of any project, considering all relevant circumstances.
  • Receiving and reviewing tender documents, ensuring the wider tender team is informed.
  • Issuing sub-contract and material enquiries, including scope of works and attendance schedules.
  • Chasing tender returns and updating the enquiry schedule.
  • Raising tender queries in conjunction with the wider tender team.
  • Developing and filling gaps in tenders, compiling clarifications and estimator notes.
  • Developing and assessing a risk schedule and an opportunity assessment.
  • Developing a value engineering schedule.
  • Completing analysis of tenders and prices as received from the supply chain.
  • Producing documents for tender settlement and presenting clear net costings identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Completing tender submissions including Form of Tender, Bills of Quantities, and associated commercial information.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in the construction field (Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Technology).
  • 6+ years' experience in a similar role (i.e., Estimating or Quantity Surveying).
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office; ideally, a working knowledge of Conquest, Cubit, Buildsoft, Cost X.
  • Knowledge of the latest construction technology processes, materials, and costs.
  • Demonstrated excellent budgetary responsibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adhering to strict deadline environments.
  • Career-driven, ambitious, and enthusiastic.

Package: €55 K - €85 K negotiable based on experience & qualifications.
