Capital Investment Division - Iarnród Éireann Location – Inchicore, Dublin 8 Salary – 3C €93,927-€97,250 (3yr scale) Applications are being invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Finance Manager – Balance Sheet, Risks and Systems within the Capital Investments Division. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Head of Finance, Capital Investments. This role requires strong commercial experience and a proven record in delivering management and financial reporting requirements and financial processes in a challenging and economic environment. The main duties and responsibilities of the role include the following: Responsibilities Work as a key member of the Capital Investments Finance team to deliver the business strategy that will continue to improve the financial performance of the department. Meet the financial reporting requirements for Capital Investments including a real financial and commercial understanding of the numbers from a project reporting perspective. Safeguard the organisation's assets and funding lines by ensuring adequate levels of reporting and accountability. Manage timely and accurate preparation of all financial reporting to ensure requirements are met. Maintenance of systems and controls to ensure adequate backup documentation and audit trail for transactions. Develop cross-functional teamwork and influencing skills to ensure objectives of the Finance function and Company are achieved. Specific responsibilities include: Design and develop a balance sheet for Capital Investments. Maintain the established balance sheet. Review, document, standardize and implement all capitalization policies. Design and implement balance sheet controls. Review all current balance sheet reconciliations and implement ongoing improvements where required. Prepare reconciliations on a periodic basis and investigate all variances. Prepare balance sheet budget and forecasts including but not limited to asset values, prepayments, accruals, retentions, bonds, grants, and completed asset transfers. Engage with project accountants to understand the capitalization policy for each project, document the rationale, and ensure that the SAP setup appropriately reflects the capitalization policy. Maintain a register of all project bonds, monitor bond expiry, maintain the bond transactions procedure, ensure all transactions align to that procedure and report on those transactions. ***Please note that the above list is not exhaustive. A full job description can be requested from HR Shared Services.*** Essential Requirements Qualified Accountant. Minimum 8+ years post qualification experience. Financial management experience, strong corporate governance aptitude, and commercial experience is required. Significant proven track record and experience in financial reporting, periodic end processes, and managing tight reporting deadlines. Proven ability to effectively lead a team. Ability to manage a balance sheet in line with accounting policies. Strong knowledge of FRS102 reporting requirements. Good working knowledge of SAP applications. Desirable: Ability to meet tight deadlines consistently providing timely, accurate, and relevant financial data, and to take end-to-end ownership for delivery. Motivated and a self-starter with initiative and a strong emphasis on delivery and execution. Excellent interpersonal skills. Adaptability and initiative, strong sense of integrity and responsibility. Practical financial control experience and a track record of management experience operating at a high level in the organisation. Very strong communication skills. Project Management experience with the ability to plan, initiate, monitor, and implement project deliverables within a team. A competency-based interview will form part of this selection process.
