Senior Manager in Insurance Financial Accounting and Regulatory Change

We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Insurance Financial Accounting and Regulatory Change team, specializing in IFRS 17 support, finance systems implementation, and Solvency II reporting.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager, you will lead engagement teams, provide valuable insight and advice to support clients in making strategic and operational decisions about their business. You will contribute to the continued success and growth of the practice, alongside some of the most highly regarded colleagues within the Financial Services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver insurance accounting and regulatory change projects by managing the project team, assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions, and reviewing/challenging the output produced by the team. • Design, develop, and implement strategic and operational initiatives for clients. • Drive innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and implementing new and improved ways of working, delivery models, and/or technological advancements. • Develop strong internal and external networks for long-term relationships, manage EY accounts, and bring all of EY to clients. • Establish and manage effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles. • Train, coach, and supervise junior staff as well as monitor staff availability, chargeability, and support the development of less-utilized staff. • Identify opportunities for and secure new business. • Contribute to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients, co-lead proposals and bid teams, and manage the development and delivery of high-quality proposals with senior management. • Contribute to the growth of the practice via the sharing of knowledge and experience as well as demonstrate great depth of specialism by contributing to EY Points of view, development of solutions, engagement tools, and enablers. • Contribute to the development of your own and the team's technical skills by establishing a culture of highest performing teams, inclusive behaviors, and emotional intelligence. • Provide quality assurance and monitoring risks, manage assignment teams and third parties, liaise with service line teams and functional specialists.

Requirements

• An Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CPA). • Confidence and comfort with uncertainty and ambiguity in a project environment. • Demonstrated expertise across engagement and practice teams. • Working technical knowledge of IFRS 17. • Excellent communication and presentation skills to people across all levels of an organization. • Ability to apply logic and problem-solving to complex Finance business problems. • Knowledge of the key issues and challenges currently facing Insurance CFOs. • Personal responsibility for the quality of delivery. • Positive team mentality, even under pressure, by treating colleagues well and creating an inclusive culture. • Comfort and confidence around senior stakeholders, internally and externally. • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for detailed analysis and report writing.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in a consulting role in insurance or a transformation role in industry, focusing on the Finance function. • Experience leading delivery of Finance change programmes in insurance and demonstrable experience of leading change from: + Hands-on consulting experience at a Big 4 or top-tier consulting firm within Financial Services, or leading change programmes at a Financial Services organization, or leading a Line function at a Financial Services organization. + Experience designing and implementing Finance Operating Models and Finance Transformation, including location and service model strategy. + Accounting and regulatory change experience (e.g., IFRS9, IFRS17) – supporting clients in understanding and addressing complex change, and leading delivery of programmes/projects. + Financial Control experience, including internal and external statutory reporting. + Financial modelling, budgeting, business planning, forecasting, and analysis experience. + Experience in Finance operating model design and implementation. + Experience in front-to-back process, control, and governance. + Balance sheet management and financial resource optimization experience. + Finance Cost Reduction and Process Improvement experience. + Experience in Finance systems architecture and strategy delivery. + Experience in General Ledger, consolidation, and EPM projects. + Experience in regulatory, statutory, and management reporting projects including Solvency II.
