Job Description

The responsibilities of a Senior Manager ? Model Validation is to provide a senior independent assessment as to the efficacy of newly proposed models and existing implemented models within PTSB. The role holder will be responsible for bringing independent thought and demonstrate appropriate challenge to model design, development, implementation and use. Your Team: The model risk team is responsible for setting the standards for model risk management for the Bank and ensuring adherence to those standards. To deliver on its mandate the model risk team is loosely configured into the following three teams ? model monitoring ? robotics and replication ? independent assessment i.e. bringing and evidencing independent thought and constructive challenge to the development and use of models You will report to the Head of Model Risk. Your Responsibilities: ? Lead the independent initial validation of models and provide opinion as to fitness for purpose to Model Owners and Governance committees which is a condition for approval for use; ? Lead the independent periodic validation of models and provide opinion as to fitness for purpose to Model Owners and Governance committees which is a condition for on-going use; ? Develop and maintain appropriate standards, models and techniques for validating and assessing model performance; ? Ensure that the Group's model risk policy requirements are actively disemminated and actively promote adherence by all relevant stakeholders; Risk Management and Controls ? Proactively escalate key issues to the relevant layer of senior management; ? Stay up-to-date with changes in legal and regulatory requirements as well as best practice standards; ? Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant analytical frameworks Lead an inspiring Culture ? As a Senior Leader, embody and role model the Group's values and standards ? Support the development of team members through the provision training and mentoring as required; Stakeholder Engagement ? Promote strong and proactive communication with model owners, model developers and other stakeholders while maintaining your independence; Requirements: Essential ? ? A high level of quantitative ability up to at least undergraduate degree level (or FETAC equivalent) in a highly numerically oriented subject such as physics, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, quantitative finance, engineering or general science; ? A proven ability to communicate the output of quantitative analysis, in particular to a non-technical audience who will need to make decisions based on your advices ? 10 years+ experience in model development, model validation or AI roles; ? 3 years+ experience in leading teams responsible for the development or validation of models; ? Experience of general programming in any language, e.g. SAS, Python, Java, Matlab, etc. ? Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience.
