Job Title: Senior Mechanical Estimator Location: Dublin Salary: Competitive, based on experience About the Role: We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale mechanical projects, including data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, and other mission-critical environments. You will play a key role in determining the cost feasibility of projects and work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and fire protection, for a variety of high-value construction projects. Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and technical drawings to develop accurate material, labour, and time estimates. Work closely with the project management and procurement teams to establish cost baselines and evaluate cost-saving opportunities. Engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services. Identify risks, assumptions, and contingencies associated with project costs, ensuring all estimates are comprehensive and align with industry standards. Lead pricing exercises and bid proposals, presenting cost estimates to senior management and clients for approval. Participate in value engineering exercises to offer cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety. Track and analyse historical project costs to refine future estimates and improve accuracy. Stay up-to-date with market trends, material costs, and labour rates to ensure estimates remain competitive. Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in mechanical estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on large-scale projects such as data centres, pharmaceutical, or industrial facilities. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and fire protection systems. Proven experience with estimation software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, or similar). Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of relevant construction contracts and procurement processes.
