Job Description

Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

I am delighted to be assisting an engineering company that is a bit different from the rest. Our client works on new construction projects for very well-known companies in Ireland in the Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, and Medical Device industries. They also base themselves on some of their client sites providing process engineering services. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer working on the contractor side who is looking to move more towards the client side.

Meet your potential new employer: Our client has an excellent reputation in Ireland. They have a very low turnover of staff, attributed to an open-door policy. They are a well-known company but are still not too huge to have lost their culture. It is a flat organisation, allowing you to work closely with senior management, which could open more doors for your career. They are very particular about who they want to join their team, as keeping their culture is crucial. They do not interview or hire staff easily and look for people who will work with them long-term. They maintain good relationships with clients over the years, and they only hire the best. They offer a competitive package and do not lose many people due to salary or benefits.

The Role:

  1. Coordinating incoming materials and subassemblies for multiple, simultaneous construction workflows.
  2. Build full tool mechanical infrastructure from multiple individual spools.
  3. Work from design drawings and BIM models.
  4. Track rework requests and generate materials and labour required for costing.
  5. Resolve material quality/spec issues on site.
  6. Set up site engineering works, proofread technical drawings, and accept on-site.
  7. Coordinate subcontractors ensuring they deliver to project specifications.
  8. Point of contact for all technical issues on site.
  9. Assist the Quality Assurance Team with the generation of test plans and signoff.
  10. Work closely with site construction teams to deliver quality installations at each step of the build process: design, detail, construction, sign-off, and final line walking.
  11. Work in a fast-paced equipment facilitation & installation environment.
  12. Work in a controlled environment/cleanroom.
  13. Attend quality meetings with management and subcontractors and report on quality.
  14. Work to tight schedules and successfully deliver requirements on schedule.

Experience Required:

  1. Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role required.
  2. Experience of piping systems and P&ID in a large equipment installation project.
  3. Mechanical Engineering degree or similar/related discipline.
  4. Experience with process piping installations in a high-tech project.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
